Weeks after Bad Bunny made headlines for yeeting a fan’s phone into an adjacent body of water during a recent trip to the Dominican Republic, fans still haven’t gotten the message about getting in celebrity’s faces  – just ask comedian Pete Davidson, who recently found himself in hot water for pushing a fan who got a bit too close for comfort.


On Sunday, April 23, the Saturday Night Live alum took a break from his busy schedule of serving as the subject of fan-fiction romance rumors with Martha Stewart, newly-fired Fox News darling Tucker Carlson (one can dream), and Venere di Botticelli (talk about an age gap), to drop by a New York Knicks basketball game at Manhattan’s Madison Square Garden.



Though his team may have emerged victorious in their playoff game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Davidson’s celebrations were short-lived, as a fan heading in for an unwanted hug moments after their win, placing his arm around the 29-year-old’s shoulders as he posed for a selfie with another attendee.



Visibly irritated by this display of affection, Davidson proceeded to do what most sane people would if confronted by a weirdly touchy stranger in an ugly-ass salmon polo – pushing him fan the fuck away before exchanging what appeared to be a few tense words.


As clips of the incident began making the rounds online, garnering viral attention on Twitter and TikTok, several fans – boasting the knowledge of how to interact with strangers – swooped to the Staten Island native’s defense, arguing that being a celebrity does not exempt one from the general rules of personal space.


“Why paint Pete Davidson in a negative light for this?” quipped Twitter user @Eric__Shunn(another banger from Elon Musk’s Twitter Blue School of comedy). “This random stranger completely invaded his personal space…the push was more than warranted.”
